Deputy Loiselle arrested Matthew T. McDermott following an investigation into a complaint received in regards to an underage drinking party occurring at a residence in the Village of Earlville. Sheriff’s Deputies and NYS Police responded to a residence in the Village of Earlville after receiving a complaint that there were underage children drinking at a party at that location and reported over 100 people at the party. While on scene and attempting to make contact with the property owner, McDermott began inciting numerous other subjects at the party to become violent towards law enforcement. When McDermott was approached to stop inciting the rest of the group he shoved Deputy Loiselle and began fighting with him. McDermott resisted arrest for several minutes and continued to yell out and incite others in the large group to become violent towards law enforcement. Upon being taken into custody McDermott was found to be in possession of Metal Knuckles(Brass Knuckles) and Marihuana. McDermott was arraigned in the Village of Earlville Court and remanded to the custody of the Chenango County Sheriff’s office to reappear in that court at a later date. Arrested: Matthew T. McDermott age: 24, Ithaca, NY Charges – Inciting to Riot, Harassment 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Disorderly Conduct and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. All crimes described in this press release are allegations, and suspects named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
