Deputy Minister Kebby Maphatsoe has outperformed all the President cheerleaders. He has gone ten steps further than all the rest when he claimed that Thuli Babe is on CIA payroll. I feel pity for my leader. I don’t doubt that what he said is what all the cheerleaders believe in, one way or another. After all, all black people are expected to toe the line. Those who don’t do earn themselves nice labels like “clever blacks”. This (CIA claim) could even have been said in conversation somewhere where my leader was present. There had to be a bigger label for Thuli Babe. I mean, how dare she challenges the Prez to answer to her, who the hell is she? And besides, he was attacking and labelling Thuli Babe, in defence (read destruction) of the revolution, the ANC and the Prez himself. The timing was right and the audience perfect. The occasion was the unveiling of the tombstone of the late Comrade Petrus Linda Jabane (Lion of Chiawelo). It was the right moment to mimic the heroism of the generation of fearless fighters like the Lion of Chiawelo and to score political points. Except that, my leader, had a few things wrong. His speech was recorded verbatim. This means that any claims of being misquoted would not hold water. The widespread public support for Thuli Babe couldn’t not be taken lightly. With the media and everybody there the cheering by some of those present at the unveiling soon turned to anger and public condemnation of his utterances. He obviously hasn’t been following what happened to other defenders of the ANC, like those who manhandled DA supporters who “dare march to Luthuli House”. He had also suffered from an inflated sense of self. He obviously is not on Facebook where many have declared “NOT IN MY NAME”. I mean he is not Gwede Mantashe, who is licensed to spit venom with no immediate consequences. The biggest miscalculations of all, he didn’t anticipate that the Americans will take exception to these claims and engage the JZ administration. Shooooooo. And Zizi Kodwa was left with no option than to dissociate the ANC from the statements. Talk about “black man you are on your own”.
