Deric Lostutter is one hell of a guy! I find it outrageous that after he managed to make everyone aware of this horrific rape and callous disregard for the girl attacked hes treated as a villain! Standing up for that child who was raped and helping bring her attackers and those who tried to cover it up to justice and Lostutter is called the bad guy and threatened with a ridiculous sentence? He got people involved and helped expose the cover-up with information provided to him by a woman who took screen shots before the horrific posts were removed from social media; before the inevitable cover -up started. (It is Steubenville, after all.. and skeletons in the closet are par for the course!) And while he sounded the call to arms for the group, Anonymous is not a gang. There is no leader and each person acts under their own initiative. Other men have publicly said they were the ones who did the actual hacking. Yet they are considering charging him with computer crimes and aggravated identity theft, as well as identity theft, attempt and conspiracy. Ive seen quotes that hes looking at perhaps 10 to 25 years in prison. The men who raped the girl got 1 year with the second getting an extra year for posting the photos of the abuse. It was a slap on the wrist for the rapists. Oh well, boys will be boys, you know- just sowing those wild oats. The sentences for the rapists show the contempt for women and that rape culture is alive and well in the local justice system. The sentences trivializes what this girl went through and will deal with for the rest of her life. She was brutally raped and urinated upon. Shell deal with fear, trust issues, body issues and self esteem issues for years; some of them never resolving. But hey, shes just a drunk lil slut, lets sweep it under the rug. And when it becomes public knowledge, blame the girl. Im beyond disgusted. I think it is time for the U.S. Judicial system to set its sights on the city of Steubenville once more! Thank you Mr Lostutter, not just for Steubenville, but for Clark County, Hunter Moore, Newtown school funerals and all the times youve stood up for the victims! Real courage is being scared and still going forward. Hopefully Deric Lostutter points his talents at investigative journalism. Think what someone of his drive, courage and passion could accomplish.
