In his best performance in the FIBA World Cup, Rose shot 6-for-10 from the field for 12 points, had five assists and grabbed three rebounds to help Team USA beat Slovenia 119-76 in Barcelona to set up a semifinal matchup against Lithuania. Rose was held scoreless in the round of 16 against Mexico, and his field-goal percentage had plummeted to 22 percent (8-for-37). Rose can thank Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski for the biggest assist. “Coach K gave me that green light,’’ Rose told reporters after the victory. “He just told me to play the way I normally play, don’t worry about getting guys into the game.’’ Rose admittedly was out of his comfort zone the first six games but said he didn’t mind going back to his old-school distributing self.
