Description: A Bath of Acid - Victim Horribly Seared Date: December 14 1890 Clothing Burned Off and the Flesh of the Victim Horribly Seared PARKERSBURG, W. Va., Dec. 13. – John Webb, an employee of Rathbone & Company’s chemical works, was Thursday morning employed in a tank house where acids are prepared for shipment. By some mischance he slipped and fell in to a large tank of acid. He kept his head above the acid until assisted by another workman who happened close by at the time. Webb’s clothing was entirely eaten off, and wherever the acid struck the body it eat its way into the flesh. He is still alive, although suffering horribly.
