Designers had planned to construct two models of machine gun pods. First model they planned was to equip the Hind with 7.62 caliber, and another one pods model with 12.7 mm. But during the practice they learned Mi-24 was powerful enough to carry them together at a time. Thats why designers finally decided to unite the two cannon pods to a structure or 2 in 1. Also this cannon pods has another firing mode that callings as deep press. When pilot presses on fire trigger when 7.62 machine gun begins to shot, and if to press trigger more deeply, when 12.7 machine gun begins to shot too. BTW Hind can be armed with 30mm cannons and light machine gun pods with 7.62 and 12.7 machine gun as on pic which are posted. Light machine gun pods are used against infantry and light armored vehicles. Gun pods sometimes may not be accurate. Therefore, put out lots of bullets and hope one gets lucky the used multi-caliber guns. ~Striker
