Desire Psalm 27:4 (NIV) - “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple”. David said in Psalm 27:4; “One thing, have I asked of the LORD,……”What have you asked of the LORD? Is it out of a selfish desire to gain wealth so you can flaunt it or to be the boss so you can control everyone? James 4:3 says that we ask and receive not because we ask out of wrong motives. “That I will seek after……… David sought after! He did not just pray and sit idle waiting for manna to fall out of heaven. He did not say Lord send me.. But refused to encourage or evangelize to a friend. David’s desire and prayer was that “he may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of his life”. Where do want to dwell? Is it In the midst of your friends, at your job place, at a party or church? To Dwell- TO CONTINUALLY STAY. That he may always live and “live” in the presence of God. Whose presence do you desire? Is it Prince charming, your boss or spouse? ….” to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD” To gaze- to meditate, to focus on the ” beauty” (THE LOVE, GLRY, PROMISES, FAITHFULNESS AND MERCY)of the LORD. He refuses to gaze upon the world economy, financial statement, educational achievement, struggles or fear! We have a choice in what we want to gaze on even as we dwell in the house of God because it is possible to dwell and not gaze. ….”To inquire in his temple”. David sought to inquire in the house of God. Who do you inquire of concerning your life in matters of finances, family, marriage and career? Do you Google? Ask friends, your pastor or you read the Forbes list and the researcher’s findings? He personally inquired of the LORD, he did not use the zodiac signs or psychic but consulted the LORD. . Glory be to GOD, we have the HOLY SPIRIT to guide and direct us and to sanctify our desires to align with the will of GOD. May David’s prayer forever resound in our thoughts and may the grace of God help us desire him above all else. Matthew 6:33King James Version (KJV): But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. As we seek first his kingdom and he becomes the ONE THING our heart desires, all others shall be added unto us. Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, we pray that you will be the one thing we desire above and over everything in our lives and in this world. Let the joy of your presence continually be our strength in the precious mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen
