Desk of D. A. Sigler...... Japanese Films of Importance and then some. COMMENTARY: Top five Japanese related movie. (1). Memoirs of a Geisha. (2). Letters From Iwo Jima. (3). Shogun. (4). The Seven Samurai. (5). The Last Samurai. (Only because its in Japan and I like Ken Watanabe; cant stand Tom Cruise as an actor).......One could add the WWII movie Bridge Over the River Kwai but as history goes, the bridge was never blown up and is still standing, but it is still a good movie for a good movie sake......Hell in the Pacific is a good typical war movie, Lee Marvin, Toshiro Mifune.......Flags of our Fathers is a very good movie but its the America side of Letters From Iwo Jima........never saw the 47 Ronin movie, maybe I will as I know the history....and I am sure I am forgetting a whole lot of others......but you get the idea......Japan makes good movies.
