Despite all the personal fitness trainers, gastrointestinal bypass - TopicsExpress

Despite all the personal fitness trainers, gastrointestinal bypass surgeries, expensive wrinkle creams and everything else people use to look young and keep fit, the mortality rate still stands at 100 percent! Someone once remarked that our generation will produce the best-looking corpses in history!! I thought that was quite the read this morning. Paul is talking to the Thessalonians and their concerns for their relatives who have died before Christs return. Personally I think what theyre asking is Hey, whats gonna happen to ME!!!!!! A TRULY relevant question!! I love how we disguise our fears of death in these passages by asking about our loved ones. I tend to think that we as humans mourn for each other because we are selfish - I am now leaning towards maybe thats a little harsh.....NAH!!!!!!!!! Were selfish!!! :) Paul goes on to say some, or mean something rather profound in these passages - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. In essence it is my belief that he is saying that we have the right to mourn as we see fit. to mourn how our own hearts tell us to mourn. To mourn not would mean to be authentic not. We would not be true to ourselves if we did not allow ourselves to mourn....ORRRRR....if we made ourselves mourn too much. The one thing that we can faith in is that since we are resurected through the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we have HOPE!!! We need not fear death for ourselves nor our ancestors, - 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. I really think that one way the Bible teaches of hope is how a LOT of the passages are closed. Have you ever noticed how they will tell us of great horrors and then close with a small hopeful passage? I dont think this is by accident. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. Peace be with you!! V///
