Despite earlier reports that a £51million deal had been agreed - TopicsExpress

Despite earlier reports that a £51million deal had been agreed for Radamel Falcao to join Manchester United, the Express and Sky News have confirmed that the Colombian will join on loan today. The loan deal is reported to be worth around £5-6million. The Star and Spanish newspaper AS had reported the original deal, but its now believed that the £51million may be a clause in the contract with United having the option to buy at the end of the loan. Its said that Falcao will be making his way to England on a private plane at 4:50pm today for a medical to complete the deal. Manchester City were set to fight United for Falcaos signature, but the huge money on offer from United meant that Citys Financial Fair Play restrictions prevented them from making a real challenge. Deadline day is set to see a major reshuffle in Uniteds striking ranks, with Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck looking to leave for Real Madrid (loan) and Tottenham respectively. The other thing that has forced Van Gaals hand in chasing Falcao is the news that Robin van Persie is likely to need serious knee surgery soon, which along with the departures of Hernandez and Welbeck, will see United massively short of options up front. United have had a dreadful start to the season, failing to win a single match so far under Louis van Gaal. The lowlight of the bad run was undoubtedly Tuesday nights 4-0 hammering at the hands of MK Dons, which saw the Red Devils crash out of the League Cup.
