Despite having studied this half of my history in some detail, despite having travelled to the slave caves of Mangapwani in Zanzibar & the door of no return on Goree Island in Senegal, I cannot fail to be moved by this. I suppose even more so because my maternal grandmother was born in 1890, it is likely her parents could have been the 1st freed generation. Until the time comes when we Diaspora Africans never cease to be emotionally moved to the point of pain & positive rage about this, the way the Jews are , it is my contention that neither the healing nor our advancement will begin.
