Despite it all we carry ON. ****Carnivale & Mardi Gras Survival Tips at Chers House 2015 : We welcome all our friends to parade with us uptown at 8th & St Charles N. Ground during Carnivale & Gras. This year WILL BE DIFFERENT. I cannot hold all spots & do set up & tear downs like I used to. With that being said, I DO SO appreciate any & ALL help on the route early for set ups. :) PS: VERY IMPORTANT: If Jade is NOT out with us, please dont give her a hard time about it. She will join us when & if she can-otherwise will be laying low & dealing with it as she sees fit & can. Thanks SO MUCH for your support in this matter :) These are some handy tips to get you through the season with us. NEW CITY WIDE GRAS RULES: There will be a 6 foot from curb rule for all Open Tents & ladders & no one allowed in the streets this year at intersections that are not easily moved, so be advised! ALSO NO large camping style tents & large furniture allowed to be set up or roping off spots AT ALL..be respectful of all on route, there are enough spots & fun to go around. Bring umbrellas/tarps to stand on .... for rain days. First.......Come early & carpool when U can....parking gets bad the last week of Carnivale...the first week is not so bad on streets close by until a couple of hours before the parde rolls. You can take the streetcar if its running too, or Magazine Bus & walk over. I try to hold our Parade spots to be together on the route, but cannot hold all the spots & if you arrive late, please be respectful of those that have come early & sat to save their spot all day & dont shove in front of them....be kind to all ON the route & mingle & have a fun time. Second....Bring your chair, blankets, food/drink, cooler to put them in, table to put them on, ect, umbrellas, hand warmers, costumes & any Mgras needs, dont forget your bead bag for draggin your throws home in! Those that will be here all thru the parade season are welcome to leave your chairs here, but please mark them with your name & bring them back to house for safe keeping , had some issues w/ that last year....:) Third.......Feel free to bring snacks & drinks for you & yours & to share with your friends, The big stuff can be left at the House & smaller items taken to the route spot & re-freshed from the house. Fourth.....Please feel free to contribute a roll of toilet paper, as the rest is taken care by us & our house will be available for your & our friends restroom needs. Fifth........Please help keep our parade spot as clean as possible from trash, so all may enjoy & none will trip & fall down (mainly me)...no more broken bones wanted for Mgras! ****Please do NOT bring your pets to the Parade route ...it IS a City Ordinance & not allowed for the safety of the pet as well as Parade goers....& keep an eye on your valuables & purses***** ****Please do NOT block our driveway or anyone elses, observe the 3 foot rule on driveways & do not park in the yellow zones on corners, or in front of Fire Hydrants.....you WILL be ticketed by NOPD & they have gone UP to Minumum $ 40.00**** Ice, beer, snacks etc...can be purchased at the corner stores on Louisiana & surrounding areas, but I suggest you bring whats needed with you if you can, the lines do get long on big parade days. Thank you for your co-operation & we look forward to seeing you at the Parades!
