Despite the popular allegation that Black businesses are not professional, the reality of the situation is that there are many which are. Dlamini Attorneys, based in Sandton, is one of them. Every year, this law firm has a seminar for over a hundred secondary school learners from across public and private schools. As early as last year April, the firm requested me to be one of the speakers at this years event, taking place next month. Periodically, the administrator calls me to remind me about this commitment, and has recently been calling to check if everything is fine in terms of the preparation for my presentation. And as a show of support for Black talent, the company bought around 200 copies of Memoirs of a Born Free: Reflections on the Rainbow Nation, which will be distributed to the participants of the seminar. Dlamini Attorneys defies the stereotype around the conduct of Black businesses and redefines Black excellence.
