Despite the quick decay of the EPO in Buffalo, all the major players in Rochester expressed confidence in the East High partnership. We will do much better than Buffalo because we have a vendor who is local, who is the number one employer in the region, who not only has a medical school like Johns Hopkins, but they have an education school, a top-notch business school, they have so many synergies that will make it work better than Buffalo, said Van White, Rochester school board president. Another difference is time. The U of R asked for and received more of it from the state, which means they have all year to define their role and have committees to identify and implement what U of R professor Dr. Steve Uebbing calls best practices. Were not in this for any other reason than to try and do the right thing for what we perceive to be a community asset, Uebbing said. .... Family involvement is also needed and thats where U of R is concentrating a good deal of energy, using public meetings and other tools to reach out to the community.
