Despite the uproar and the vile hisses of homophobe, What Tony Dungy said was not only correct, but is done all the time in the NFL. NFL scouts evaluate Physical talent, psychologist give test, medical doctors perform exams and the HR department does a background check all before drafting someone to the team. They are looking for any reason NOT to draft someone as a way of protecting their football team and I don’t blame them, this year the Chicago Bears has a value of 1.2 Billion dollars, so protecting the image is critical and saving the team distractions helps achieve the goal of winning. It’s not a homophobe thing, take Tim Tebow the physical talent didn’t surpass the distraction to the team and the reason why Tim is not playing football. Tim didn’t need to be a distraction but his constant pointing to god, kneeling in prayer and Christian following made him a distraction and if on his draft day camera’s would have filmed him in a church French kissing the Pope, Tony would have had the same remarks. This is Football “America’s game” and it a business about winning.
