Despite the zombie journalist in the main stream media who insist that Mr. Bernanke should be recognized for saving us from the worst economic crisis in 80 years, we need to remember that he was the head of one of the very institutions that could have and should have taken corrective action long before the crisis came about. Not only were the policies of the Federal Reserve under his leadership encouraging the unscrupulous behavior of the financial industry, they were willfully negligent in discharging their regulatory responsibilities. It is very apparent that the real objective of quantitative easing is not reducing unemployment and improving our sluggish economy. If that was the real objective, we would have abandoned this policy several years and at least a trillion dollars ago as it has proven counter-productive to reducing unemployment and improving our overall economy. Unfortunately the most egregious aspect of Mr. Bernanke’s legacy may have not occurred yet. If action is not taken to let the overpriced stock market created by quantitative easing to revert back to realistic values in the near future, rampant inflation is inevitable.
