Despite two great campaigns it wasnt to be for Cathal King or Martin Kenny today. However, I still feel renewed hope that politics is changing in this state forever. Cathal King topped the poll in Dublin South West with more votes than Fine Fail, Fine Gael and Labour combined and Martin Kenny doubled the Sinn Féin vote in Roscommon/South-Leitrim. Most importantly an estimated 100,000 people took to the streets for the Right2Water demonstration earlier today. This mass mobilization of people along with the election results that showed peoples total rejection of Fine Gael, Labour and Fine Fail and their politics of austerity makes it clear that as Gerry Adams said earlier a revolution is already under way.
