Despite what the vast number of supporters of Michigans Proposal 1 - TopicsExpress

Despite what the vast number of supporters of Michigans Proposal 1 say (and that even includes the Mackinac Center for Public Policy) about Prop 1, Prop 1 appears to be in trouble, politically speaking. Im all for repealing the States personal property tax on businesses, but that repeal needs to be across-the-board, not marginal as this proposal is supporting. The PPT should be repealed for ALL commercial businesses and residents in Michigan, not ONLY for businesses. If the Michigan State Police and municipalities own police, fire, and ambulatory services lose taxpaying funding, not my problem. Those groups can hold bake sales for all I care. Its time to repeal regulations after regulations, taxes after taxes, and make Michigan a part-time legislature (like New Hampshire). The schools can even have bake sales to fund their own operating expenses and costs, including tuition, books, school supplies, and quality meals for the kids K-12. Thus I vote NO on Proposal 1. Its a piece-of-shit proposal that only shifts the tax problems from businesses to residents who will be forced to pick up the tab on personal property taxes rather than the businesses paying these taxes. Why shift the tax from one group to another? Thats downright idiotic and unfair. Not only that, its anti-libertarian and anti-American. The more we downsize Michigans own state government and the municipalities and all, the better off we all will be and the better off our enterprise climate will be as well.
