Destiny Dreams will change When the thief that holds the night in ransom for the stars is cast away. When we have had enough of him tearing our heart into pieces causing love the pain that never fades; But lingers in the shadows of our minds Adding weight to the darkness And threatening to blind Eyes meant for the joy of light. The day will come In spite of all our weakness In spite of the doubt That we cling to. We horde confusion and fill every room Every corner of the house With things better left out Recycled into the elements From which they came Turned over in compost that allows things to change New seeds to sprout. Sharing love is the need, Spreading out its wings For every soul to feel To know they are not alone In the field of human suffering. We mark the way for The resemblance of a better day When all people find the possibility of happiness Is not in another life But is held within the rising of the sun Of this day. Joy is not a wish Is not a commodity To be sold by them who possess the power Pretending they are somehow the better man Endowed by the illusion of a select dominion And willing to act the part, To play the play. The slave masters of the modern world Carry the same whip Produce the same scars Today, as in every yesterday On the backs of the people that build the world Yearning for the freedom that Their hearts and minds create. We are Chained by an abiding love That renders us servants to a world That still defends the perversity Of caste systems that identify Each of us for what we are People full of love and guided by the stars Determined to arrive on the sand of the promised shore That was written in our hearts By the hand of the Almighty Life Force That still guides our ship Toward the harbor Destiny.
