Destiny Schaetzle On 8/01/14 at approximately 4:39 pm the Tuscaloosa Police Department received a call stating that Destiny had been located walking along New Watermelon Rd near an old church just south of Harbor Ridge Way. Two citizens stopped and stayed with her until officers arrived. Officers confirmed it was Destiny and she was transported to DCH to be examined. Destiny has been admitted to DCH hospital for overnight observation. Based on the unsafe living conditions and the treatment of Destiny and her older sister that officers have observed, both children will be placed in temporary custody of family and friends in compliance with a safety plan that has been implemented until Monday morning. Monday morning representatives from the Tuscaloosa Police Department will have an opportunity to meet and discuss with DHR our concerns about the future welfare of the children. Destiny and her older sister are adopted and not the biological children of the parents they are currently living with. Although the investigation is ongoing and many details are still unknown, investigators do know that Destiny was inside a friends residence during some of the time she was missing.
