Destiny ships $500 million, highest-selling digital console release Activision announced this morning it has shipped over $500 million worth of MMO-shooter Destiny into retail stores and first parties worldwide as of day one. The number is a little messy to extrapolate because it mushes up the shipped dollar figure we try to avoid reporting when possible, with the nutritious digitally distributed sold number. The takeaway here: Destiny is on track to be another billion-dollar franchise for Activision Blizzard. The publisher is swimming in cash and has an envious portfolio that includes World of Warcraft, Call of Duty and Skylanders. The company also has a quieter monster hit in Hearthstone, which we know has continued to increase revenue and engagement, but the company has yet to give any specific data on how successful it is beyond noting it brought in millions of new accounts on Battle.net.
