Details have emerged of a plot by a group of politicians from Mt. Kenya to dilute Deputy President William Rutos influence in Rift Valley. Although this was expected, no one thought it could have come this soon. It is not known what triggered the early implementation of the plan so far. Multiple sources which can not be revealed confirm that many politicians from Rift valley and Central Kenya are uncomfortable with Rutos influence especially in the Rift valley. So to counter this, series of meetings were held in at a Naivasha hotel owned by the first family. In the meetings, a strategy was crafted to cut his influence. Key among them was that the Kenyan government was to cooperate fully with the ICC on Rutos case as opposed to Uhurus case. The meetings also resolved that the number of MPs accompanying the deputy president to the Hague should reduce. As a result, most Mps from Central Kenya and the rift Valley were summoned to comply with the directive. Another meeting that was also attended by the representatives of the Kenyatta and Moi families came up with a raft of proposals that would ensure that senator Gideon Moi gain political mileage over Ruto both nationally and in the Rift Valley. It was in this meeting that the two families resolved to revive and re-brand Kanu. An idea was proposed to form Kanu Youth Congress in order to give the independence party a new image. Re-branding Kanu was intended to counter URP influence in the Rift valley especially among the young people. It is believed that key politicians both from Central Kenya and Rift Valley are not happy with William Ruto whom they accuse of being too ambitious and dangerous for presidency. The strategic plan estimates that by 2016, Gideon Moi should be in a position to succeed Ruto both as Riftvalley point man and in jubilee. The drafters of the plan reiterated in the secret meetings that it will be dangerous to hand the presidency to Ruto. They seemed to be comfortable working with Mois son. Probably this may be the reason why former president Moi has never met with William Ruto in private since they took over power. Inner sources confirm that many politicians who previously were very vocal about Ruto went mute and are now inclined more to TNA than URP. Even the number of URP embers of parliament accompanying the Deputy President to public functions have drastically reduced. An example is the National Assembly majority leader, Hon. Adern Duale who appears to be more pro Uhuru than Ruto. Kanu activities are expected to increase in the coming years leading to the general elections. However, the Deputy president is said to have gotten wind of this. in a swift and desperate move, he formed URP Youth League which he hopes to use to endear the youth to his party. The battle is expected to continue and jailing of Ruto is part of their prayers.
