Bhalo Achi Bhalo Theko..(Rudra Mohammad Shahidullahs Song) Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh organised a Musical Evening by Ms. Somnur Monir Konal at 6:30 PM on August 23, 2014 at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, Dhaka. Ms. Somnur Monir Konal was born in Dhaka, but went to Kuwait at the age of six as her father worked there. She initially learned music from her mother, who was also a Nazrulgeeti singer, and then studied ‘Hindustani Classical Music’ at All India Music Academy (affiliated to Rabindra Bharati University). She came to Bangladesh in 2009 and participated in the Channel- I Shera Kontho, a talent hunt competition, and became the champion. She performed in many concerts and special programs since then, including the Prime Minister’s honorary programs. She also sang at the Pre-program of World Cup 2011 opening ceremony and performed the theme song at the World Cup T20 2014 opening ceremony. She sings all types of songs. She has released many mixed albums, and also released one solo album called “Konal’s Jaadu” in 2012. She has sung in many films as a playback singer. She has done jingles and voice-overs for several prominent products, and also acted in the movie ‘Lal Tip’ and has been the model in Airtel’s series of five TV Commercials. She has anchored many programs; and has recently directed her own program in Channel-I. She is currently studying Media Studies and Journalism at ULAB, Dhaka. She aims to work for the community and people through music and social work. She also wants to develop a Music Healing Institute in Bangladesh and heal people through the greatest power – Music! ****
