Detecting a surfeit of British accents in your Rutgers - TopicsExpress

Detecting a surfeit of British accents in your Rutgers Law–Camden classes this semester? Professors Jason Cohen, Meredith Schalick, Sandra Simkins, and Ruth Anne Robbins jumped the pond this summer to present at the Applied Legal Storytelling Conference at City University London, UK. Robbins, a co-organizer of the fourth biannual conference, says the conference recognized and celebrated that part of legal representation that involves the telling of stories, both factual and legal. “Although the teaching of legal analysis is often framed as a vehicle of formal logic, humans are hard-wired to think in story structures. The conference presentation topics were quite diverse, because the presenters came from a variety of places and disciplines. A legal writing professor can easily walk away with new ideas learned from a clinical presentation, and vice versa. We also enjoyed presentations and conversations with judges, British barristers, and American practitioners. It was one of the most cross-cutting conferences in experiential legal education.”
