Detecting tonight turned up something a little different than the usual rusty scrap metal and wire. My first old timers button, in really good condition too. I could sew it on a shirt tomorrow and use it knowing the center isnt going to break out of it like the modern plastic ones do. Not bad for over a hundred years old and bring buried in soil since the day it was lost. Also, what at first I thought was a rifle cartridge or bullet casing but on closer inspection realize its not and I have no idea what it is. It would appear to have had a end cap and held something that was dispensed through the slot in the side but that is only me guessing on what it looks like. Anyone have any ideas as to what it is or was used for.? The hands are looking a little worse for wear after the work Ive been doing lately. Kind of big old gorilla hands they look like at the moment :p
