Determine to work at all costs for all the right things Haggai - TopicsExpress

Determine to work at all costs for all the right things Haggai 2:4 says, “Be strong all you people of the land,” declares the Lord, “and work. For I am with you.” We are all guilty of complaining about work at times, but having the strength to work, and being able to impact society for the good is a blessing. And, I’m not just talking about working at an job where you get a paycheck, though that certainly is a blessing. It takes a certain amount of stamina and tact and more than a little strength and grace from the Lord to keep a marriage together. It requires patience, and a lot of love to promote peace among siblings. Friends and neighbors who offer a helping hand and/or encouragement are a blessing, as is the occasional stranger who takes the time to say something kind. Organizations require hours from many volunteers for things to run smoothly. This work doesn’t necessarily require physical strength, or a great deal of knowledge, but it will require effort, and a willingness to turn to God to recharge and to supply you with all you need to continue on, because most of these things will not happen by chance. Friends become closer friends, when you spend time together. People grow apart if they aren’t working on their marriage. It’s all too easy to decide extended family is more effort than they are worth. And every neighbor comes with their shortcomings, which we can either overlook or dwell on. Sometimes the days get long and we get sick of being the one working. When that happens this passage is our encouragement. Be strong. Keep working. God is with you.
