Detroit is already producing unloved autos... What do old white guys love? Cadillacs and Corvettes, right? So you would think GM had a home run when they combined the two. But the Cadillac XLR never quite hit the big time. For starters it was built on the Corvette C4 platform, but was introduced the year that the C5 took over. And instead of utilizing the epic LS engines it had the Cadillac Northstar... not a bad engine but certainly not the dominant LS. The base XLR lagged behind the base Corvette by 80 horsepower and the XLR-V lagged behind the Z06 Corvette by a similar margin. All for $30k MORE than a vette, which only got you the extremely angular and slab-sided styling.
