Developed and perfected by East Germany’s State Security - TopicsExpress

Developed and perfected by East Germany’s State Security Service, commonly known as the Stasi, during the Cold War was the chief tool “Zersetzung”- literally meaning “decomposition”- involving the hidden psychological destruction of dissidents and perceived enemies. Tactics employed under Zersetzung involved the disruption of the victims professional, private and family life. This often included psychological attacks such as covertly entering the targets home, messing with contents and damaging property, smear campaigns, denunciation, psychological warfare, psychological subversion, wiretapping, bugging and stalking. Many targets thought they were losing their minds, and mental breakdowns and suicide could result. One main advantage of this type or harassment was that its subtle nature could be plausibly denied. The use of tactics such as electronic surveillance, mobbing, blacklisting and psychological operations (“psyops”) for counterintelligence purposes has a well-documented history in the U.S. and other nations. In addition to their use by the Stasi, some of the same tactics were used against American citizens during the infamous Cointelpro operations by the FBI and the project MK Ultra experiments by the CIA . In 2004 the Sunday Times published an article about the use of Stasi-type operations to punish whistle-blowers by the intelligence agency MI5. From 2006 Dr Nicolas Desurmont published a series of articles covering the subject of organised stalking, also known colloquially as gang stalking. Current evidence suggests that this practice continues today. In gang stalking, the victim is systematically isolated and harassed in a manner intended to cause sustained psychological torture while creating the last possible amount of evidence of stalking that would be visible to others. The very lack of easily captured objective evidence, by using inconspicuous and difficult to prove tactics sometimes referred to as “no-touch torture, helps keep gang stalking off the radar of potential witnesses and the mainstream news media. Another factor contributing to the low profile of organised stalking in the media is a very extensive and well managed disinformation campaign designed to mitigate credible exposure of this crime. Gang stalking today apparently targets individuals deemed to be dissidents or whistle-blowers, or who have simply crossed those with powerful connections in law enforcement, intelligence, or corporate communities. It appears that they are in effect targeting those in society of high moral standing who are willing to stand up against oppression and corruption with an attack that is intended to destroy the targeted psychologically, socially and financially. In addition to being morally reprehensible, gang stalking is illegal and significant efforts need to the taken to raise awareness of this subject, bring in further legislation and prosecute those responsible.
