Development and growth of the strain Cannabis oil The strain was developed in 2011 by the Stanley brothers (Joel, Jesse, Jon, Jordan, Jared and Josh[6]) by crossbreeding a strain of marijuana with industrial hemp.[7] This process created a variety with less tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and more cannabidiol (CBD) than typical varieties of marijuana.[8] The strain shows potential for medical usage, especially for those who do not wish to experience the typical high of recreational marijuana use.[9] Because it is so low in THC, the strain was originally called Hippies Disappointment.[10] It is a less profitable plant[11] with close to no value to traditional marijuana consumers,[12] and has been labelled boring.[13] The Stanley brothers grow the plants at their farm and greenhouses. A CBD rich oil, which they call Realm Oil and Alepsia, is extracted from the harvested plants and concentrated through rotary evaporation.[14] To make it easier to perform clinical trials, they are planning to move the Charlottes Web part of their operation to Uruguay. By doing so, they will also be able to import it to any U.S. state as hemp.[15] The Realm of Caring Foundation (RoC),[16] a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,[17] was set up by the Stanley brothers to help patients who cant afford the treatment
