Developments; I am pleased to report that yesterdays meeting went well and I am hoping--and so is the person who knows Kai and his book---and is involved in Brighouses publicity etc---that we should get together for another meeting, including Kai. We are also hoping to link up the Bronte connections with Kirklees Estate--and other local places connected to the Brontes--all used as background for Charlottes less famous--but equally enthralling novel --SHIRLEY--set at the time of the Luddites and also mentioning Robin Hood of Kirklees--or Nunnelly as its called in the book . Haworth might not like the Brontes trail going further but there is so much going for our area which has been shamefully neglected and suppressed over the years. Also we need to get the Revd Harold Pobjoy back on the scene--he did so much for local history also and has been neglected too long. I did warn my friend however, what the YRHS HAVE BEEN UP AGAINST over the years--while Lady A was ruling the roost and since---so far my friend has had negative and discouraging responses, even from local historian Chris Helme who said there was no mileage in Robin Hoods Grave--what could he mean by that? What an odd response--especially after he asked Kai to do a talk about the grave in Jan--though when I asked what Kai had asaid no onecould remember !!!! Hmmmm! We need to speak to the new owner, Mr Pickersgill of Morley and find out what his plans for the grave are.HAHAHA--Hebden Bridge Tourist Centre would not tell my friend who the new owner was, they said it was top secret--then he said he knew anyway--also they would not allow him on one of the two measly walks this year as they were booked up!!! I ask you---two measly walks of around 30 people for an international folk heros grave! What a miserable gesture--thats all it is! I wonder what happens to the money they take?
