Devil’s advocate Karan Thapar in his TV program Nothing but Truth called “Non-sense” Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi’s assertion that every child is a born Muslim. Mr. Karan Thapar also further questioned Mr. Owaisi, if everybody is a born Muslim then who is a Kafir? I would like to request my Muslim friends not to get angry or emotional over this comment. Might be he was unaware that Mr. Owaisi was actually referring to Prophetic saying. I got very high regard for Mr. Karan Thapar, he is a senior journalist and a very good professional. He had expressed his regret as well. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said : No babe is born but upon Fitra. Its his parents who make him Jew or a Christian or a Polytheist” (Sahih Al Bukhari, Vol 2, Book No 23, Hadees No 441 / Sahih Muslim, Hadees No 6426). Actually Arabic word used is “FITRA” referring to natural or neutral state. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said “The Whole World is Family of ALLAH”. Inaccurate inference of Prophetic sayings has led to this controversy. So, we need to carefully look into the actual wordings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Sangh Parivar’s “Ghar Vapasi” program coupled with Govt. inaction, has forced Mr. Owaisi to reply them in their own style. Selected application of rule of law would always be counter productive. Akbaruddin owaisi’s famous speech controversy was circulated by Indian media so effectively that MIM got free publicity. There are so many national and regional inflammatory speakers from Sangh Parivar but law takes its own course only if the speaker is a Muslim. Govt. should change this attitude. Dr. Zakir Naik has long back called upon Police to win the confidence of Muslims. Unless section 153-A of the Indian Penal Code is effectively enforced against all inflammatory speakers, writers and all those creating rift between communities, this kind of “Tit-for-Tat” will continue. Media fraternity should aggressively and relentlessly keep reminding rulers their constitutional obligations. Why the Govt. is so reluctant to apply the same yardstick for all? “BORN MUSLIM” is a new, 2015 controversy but famous word “KAFIR” is an age old controversy. Let me point out few, less familiar facts. Hindu-Muslim unity is utmost important for our national survival and growth. So we need to understand either side. First of all, there is a big difference of opinion among Muslims and Non-Muslims as far as the classification of Muslim Community is concerned. From Non-Muslim view point, Muslims are also a religious section, like any other religious groups. Whoever born in a Muslim family or converted to Islam is a Muslim. However, the Islamic view point is different. Muslim religion is not something descending from hereditary. Its rather by choice and practice. Any one is at full liberty to either accept or reject its teachings. Entry level position is a “Muslim” who upon practically implementing its teachings becomes a MOMIN. Holy Qur’aan calls upon Muslims to work for the well being of the entire humanity (Qur’aan, 3:110). Establishment of “Peace and Justice on Earth” is the life time mandate of Muslims. Qur’aan openly says “Whoever wishes to believe (in ALLAH) let them do so; Whoever wishes to disbelieve let them do so” (Qur’aan 18:29). This quotation makes it clear that we need not run any enrollment campaign. Anybody is Welcome and any body can go out also. Sir C P Ramaswamy Iyer very rightly said “Islam is the most democratic religion” Another most exploited word is “KAFIR”. Due to ignorance, many non-Muslims feel that the Arabic word “KAFIR” is an insinuation hurled upon them by Muslims. This Arabic word is neither a nick name for Non-Muslims, nor is it an abuse nor derogatory. Word “KAFIR” is the Arabic translation of English word “Non-Muslim”. Even, many Muslims may be surprised to know that Holy Qur’aan applies this word for disobedient Muslims also. Payment of Zakat is compulsory for eligible Muslims. While reprimanding defaulters, Holy Quran calls them “KAFIR” (41:7). While exhorting Muslims to visit Makakh for performance of “HAJJ”, again those who refuse, are called as “KAFIR” (Qur’aan, 3:97). My humble request to my non-Muslim friends, kindly do not get carried away with anti-Muslim propaganda unleashed with evil intention in order to malice Islam & Muslims while creating a rift & hatred between Muslims and Non-Muslims.
