Devon Doctors is pleased to be able to report on another success story for our friends at Devon Wildlife Trust. A project supported by Devon Doctors has seen the courtyard space and outbuildings at Woodah Farm, on the edge of Dartmoor, refurbished to create facilities enabling it to act as a centre for traditional rural skills, core conservation work and sustainable land management techniques. The first phase was completed in May 2013 and included: conversion of the Linhay Barn into a mucky classroom / rural skills space; creation of a toilet and shower block; conversion of the cattle barn into a large classroom space. Phase 2 of the project took place between October 2013 and April of this year and involved completion of the interior of the cattle barn to create a fantastic, large, light and well-equipped classroom space. Without any marketing or promotion, the Trust has already succeeded in attracting a wide and varied range of groups to utilise the courtyard facilities. Short to medium-term plans for Woodah involve expanding and developing the full potential of the site, with a view to ensuring that its facilities are put to good use and for purposes that match the expectations of the project’s funders.
