Devon is at that age where just getting fun toys at Christmas won’t cut it. He wants specific Lego sets, Transformers, movie-related toys, etc., and will accept no substitute. Last weekend I found that Amazon was down to only one or two in stock on the toys he wanted the most. As a result of my fretting, a flood of packages has been delivered over the past couple days. Devon is giddy with anticipation. I explained that nothing is going to be wrapped and put under the tree until I’m back home in early December. Until then, I assured him, they were safely stored in my closet. This bothered him until he understood that I’d left the presents in the shipping boxes. He became concerned all over again when I told him I HAD opened them to check what was inside. I pointed out that if he would simply stay out of my closet, there was no problem. He thought about this for quite a while and finally said, “I think you’d better write a note that says ‘Keep Out, Devon!’”
