Devotion for April 4 Ezekiel 33:10 – 16 Revelation 11:15 – 19 Psalm 130 “Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of the wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. (Ezekiel 33:12) For me at least, it seems that when things are going really well, I am ready to take all the credit. My own efforts have led to the accomplishments. But God, through Ezekiel, warns us that our own “goodness” will not allow us to earn our salvation. We can’t rely on our efforts to get us out of the mess that sin has gotten us into. When things are going badly, when we realize that we can’t save ourselves, we must do as the psalmist said, “Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; O Lord, hear my voice.” (Ps. 130:1-2) We must put all our hope in God. He loves us and wants us to live as his children. PRAYER: Lord, help me to remember that my salvation comes only from you. Give me the wisdom to trust in you and not in my own efforts. Amen.
