As you have seen below, Speaker Madigan has introduced an amendment to SB2404. In its essence, the amendment changes SB2404 to the unconstitutional, unfair, and disrespectful pension cuts contained in SB1. The amendment significantly cuts COLAs, freezes COLAs, increases retirement age, caps pensionable income, and requires an increased employee contribution. These cuts impact all current employees and retirees in tier one pensions (with the exception of the self-managed plan). So, here is what we are asking you to do when you call your state representative: Ask them to: 1. Vote no on Speaker Madigan’s amendment to SB2404. 2. Demand a vote on the original SB2404 – the only bill that has bi-partisan support and is fair and respectful. 3. Defend the Illinois Constitution by voting no on any unconstitutional pension cuts. 4.
