Diana (2013) Plot: Celebrated and adored by millions, she was the Queen of people s hearts, yet the bittersweet story of the last man to truly capture hers has never before been told. Princess Diana (double Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts), at one time the most famous woman in the world, inspired a nation with her generosity, compassion and kindness - and in her final years she would meet the man who, in turn, inspired her. In a story that until now has remained untold, Diana introduces a time in the Princess s life that was uniquely important in shaping her final years, fulfilling her search for true happiness and sealing her legacy. Review: The director wasted a chance to make something brilliant and heart warming. He concentrated on a certain period of Dianas life, which was a bad idea because she had done so much with her charities and her visits to different institutes. You dont really learn anything new about the lady except for the fact that she really wanted to be with the doctor and not Dodi, if this story is true to life. Im glad that they stayed away from the politics with the Royal Family for the sake of the children, but I think that her sudden death still touches some peoples heart so it really needed a big director like Ron Howard or Steven Spielberg to tell this story. You can tell that Naomi Watts is really trying to capture the whole personality of Diana, but you really needed someone like Meryl Streep to bring the emotion and depth to the role. Its a watchable movie but with such a large concept, it really needs to be remade. Watchable! Round-Up: I personally was moved by the death of Diana, like so many other people, so this movie really needed to be something amazing to capture the whole period. The English public didnt take kindly to a movie made about the Princess, which is shown by the money that the movie had taken, and Im surprised that there wasnt a bigger uproar by the Royal Family, her brother, or the kids about its release. Maybe thats why the director chose to stick with the love story, which was a safer bet, but we have all grown up with the stories in the papers over the years. In a way, I got bored after a while because I knew were the storyline was going from beginning to end. Budget: N/A Worldwide Gross: $22million I recommend this movie to people who what to know about Princess Dianas love life during a period before the fatal car crash which took her life. 4/10
