Diana and I saw “Last Vagas”, last night. It’s a movie starring Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, and Kevin Kline. Their characters, all in their 60s have been best friends since childhood and even though they now all live in different states, have kept in touch through the years. Billy, the groups sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something girlfriend, and the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days. I loved this movie! I laughed all the way through and kept thinking about my boys from the hood, Roland, Kenneth, and Mitchell. From Pine Hill Church where we were members starting the day we were born, through Townsend Park Elementary, Dollarway Jr High, Pine Bluff & Dollarway high schools, and University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff you might say we were as “thick as thieves”. After high school/college, we separated as we each pursued our respective careers (Roland-Tennessee, Kenneth-Indiana, Mitchell-Louisiana, and me-Texas, but we’ve kept in touch through the years. I’ve been trying to get those knuckleheads back together somewhere (anywhere) in the U.S. for a reunion of sorts and a weekend of clean fun, but no luck so far. It’s not like this post is going to help either since I’m the only one of us on Facebook ☺. Oh well, here’s to you guys!
