Diary entry, HRH Mickey, 5 June 2014: No walk this morning, the Serf left before it was light....and it was pouring with rain....I was happy to stay on my bed and nap. When she came home there was a smoked bone for me.......yahooooo!! :) Serf was in and out all day...so I mainly napped, munched my bone and dragged leaves into the house and shredded them.....that did not go down so well. We went to walk quite late tonight, in the last rays of twilight and then the dark. There are a few lights in the park, but the Serf clearly cannot see as well as a dog and tripped herself up a few times....and I just laughed...no falls or damage. We saw Max.....he is starting to get this park thing waxed and is not so skittish anymore. I was so pleased to climb on my jungle gym...actually I just showed off, as there were a few people admiring me!! :) I am a real little actor. Off we went and met the man in his electric wheelchair and his 2 spotty dogs...he says I am the cutest dog ever...I proudly trotted about at this news. His 2 dogs were not in total agreement with their owner....so they chirped me.....as they were on leads fastened to the wheelchair, I trotted around, showing off!! :) It got really dark and the heavens opened....hmmm....not so cool. Then a dog shot out of the dark and tried to bite me....fortunately I am quick enough....he did get a small nip in....Serf chased him away. His owner did apologise. I then decided I like this rain thing and refused to have my lead put on......I ran, jumped, weaved, ducked and dived, as well as barked....much to the Serfs displeasure. She looked like a drowned rat, so out of pity, I slowly.......very slowly sauntered over to her....with several detours to smell raindrops. Eventually the lead was put on and we went off to the car.......I dug my heals in and refused to move.........the Serf had to lift me into the car....while I squirmed and squealed. We stopped so I could be shown off....but we had to walk on the pavement, near cars racing by and swishing through water.....so I had to be picked up, as I was trying to break out of my collar....scary stuff!! Boy, did I get fussed...thank you!! :) Off home and the game of the towel was re-enacted. I was a bit cold and curled up on the couch. The Serf went to get something strange and connected the gas bottle to it....I barked at it....alien being. Turns out the alien is known as a gas heater, that spreads warmth about, as Bobby patiently explained to me. He hogs most of the heat and has to turn himself over fairly often and roast the other side. He tends to like to lie with all 4 paws in the air, and also stretches, making long cat!! :) I tried the heater for a while, then I am back on the couch, back in front of the heater and repeat several times. I am not so sure about this heater thing. PS - I saw my 1st owl last night......he was right there in plain sight in the park....I believe he is called and eagle owl.
