Diary of a married man (Part2) The one time I really found - TopicsExpress

Diary of a married man (Part2) The one time I really found myself in pain was when we had been married for 10 years. The pain was because of what I did to her. This is what happened. Like I said, we had been married for 10 years, or almost 10 years because our anniversary was just around the corner. Anyway, during the 10 year period, the one thing we were very open about was our mobile phones. We had nothing to hide and so at any time I could pick up her mobile phone and go through it, and she could do the same with mine. Even when a message came through, we could check each other’s messages. It was just a culture we had cultivated over the years and it worked fine for us. I need to be honest though, there were times that maybe someone would send me a message that I would feel it’s bit inappropriate and such messages I just deleted without even entertaining them. I suspect she probably did the same. Sometimes people would just wanna make you fight, and sending such texts could be a part of their strategy. So to avoid all such drama, I would just delete such and go on with my life. As far as I was concerned, they were not worth my time at all. On that fateful day, we had just came back from church. Unexpected delays resulted in us arriving later than usual at home. An hour late to be precise. We ate and then started washing the dishes. I normally would help my wife with chore and so we did. Being an hour later than planned, my phone was just lying on the table when the message arrived. I was supposed to have been alone in the study with the phone at that time and the sender expected that too. Most Sunday afternoons after church I would spend some time in the study going through newspapers or some newly acquired books. The message was short, simple and to the point: “I’m just confirming our lunch session tomorrow. Can’t wait to show you what I have *smiles* Cindy”. My wife had finished washing the dishes and I was in the middle of drying them. She was just sitting, waiting on me and so when the message came through, she was the one closer and suited to checking my phone. I could see her face changing once she finished reading the text. I had no idea who it was or what it was all about. I did however notice trouble brewing by the look on her face. “I thought you said we can’t have lunch together tomorrow because you will be working throughout with your team?”. I nodded, wondering what did the message say that led to her bringing this up. Then it quickly dawned on me. I was a bad liar, lying just never been a part of me and while I was still trying to think what I was going to say next, she had already proceeded to pose the next question: “Apparently Cindy didn’t get the message about your working throughout lunch, and she I still confirming meeting with you tomorrow over lunch time?” And who is Cindy anyway? She screamed at me. I was completely stuck and all I could say was….. (To be continued).
