Dick Powell, who starred in several musical comedies in the 1930s only to transform into a film noir icon in the mid-1940s. was born on Nov. 14, 1904. And TCM is celebrating his birthday Friday beginning at 3 a.m. Pacific and 6 p.m. Eastern with a mini-tribute. Among the films scheduled include including 935s Shipmates Forever and Broadway Gondolier, which also stars his then-wife Joan Blondell; 1936s Hearts Divided; 1950s Right Cross, with his then-wife June Allyson; and 1954s Susan Slept Here with Debbie Reynolds.
