Did Jesus teach and tell people to pray a sinners prayer to be saved? The sinners prayer is by far the biggest heresy in modern Christianity, it has damned more people to Hell with the false assurance of salvation because of something they did (whether sincerely or not) at some point in their lives. Unfortunately the sinners prayer has no power to save a persons soul in and of itself, yet we are all told by well meaning people that in order to become a Christian you just repeat a prayer, or make up one of your own and poof, magically you now become a Christian after praying. Before the 1800s no evangelist led a person in a sinners prayer, they simply preached the Gospel like the Apostle Paul preached, with repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus, and they allowed the saving work of regeneration to be up to God, and they waited on the Holy Spirit to born a person again before pronouncing them to be saved. Todays pastors and evangelists want instant salvation and instant gratification for their labors, because they are deceived themselves by the likes of Billy Graham, Charles Finney, Billy Sunday, and many others, not understanding that Ye must be born again, and that salvation is solely the work of God, faith, repentance, and believing, is a gift of Gods unmerited favor, His grace. Before the sinners prayer baptismal regeneration was the order of the day and just as wicked of a lie. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
