Did You Know…. One has to wonder why so many staff have left the District of Sechelt. Its normal for CAO’s to change after a big council membership change, but not the amount of staff changes the District of Sechelt has seen. Here is a list of staff that have left since the last election: - Rob Bremner, Chief Administrative Officer - Randy Stoyko, CIG (CAO in any other community) - Andrea deBucy, Director of Finance - Leif Pedersen, Deputy Director of Finance - Jo-Anne Frank, Corporate Officer - Chris Conner, Corporate Officer - Emanuel Machado, Sustainability and Special Projects Manager - Phil Strain, Supervisor of Public Works - Sandra Brown, GIS Coordinator - Andre Boel, Community Planner - Bruce Haynes, Bylaw Officer (Retired) - More staff on Short Term and Long Term Disability than ever before - All of the interim (CAO, CO and CFO) contractors who were hired chose not to stay - 5 staff were laid off in the 2 weeks leading up to the strike. Many of the above listed positions continue to be vacant and it appears that some will not be filled. - Corporate Officer – Position Vacant - Deputy Director of Finance – Position not filled and currently not posted - Sustainability and Special Projects Manager – Position terminated - Community Planner - Position not filled and currently not posted - Bylaw Officer - Position not filled and currently not posted - Building Inspector (Vacant position due to promotion) Position has also not been filled and is not posted. Although the volume of work has changed very little, the number of staff has been significantly reduced. At what cost to the District? - $$$$ - Lack of Continuity - Service to the Community - Delays - Staff discomfort with instability of workplace and sense of lack of job security
