Did You Know? One of the most common hindrance to fulfilling our purposes in life and ministry, is taking shortcuts! The scripture bares out the fact that God’s way to true success, and living out your purposes and Fulfilling your Dreams is a “Process”, but many times the carnal way is taking shortcuts! The Bible is full of examples, illustrating the perils of taking Shortcuts! 1. - In the Garden, Satan offered Eve a Shortcut, and we all know the result of that! See: (Gen 3: 5) For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.[Amp] The Temptation to take a shortcut is many times when we are tempted to do something in order to become something that we already are, or to get something that we already have. Consequently we end up becoming something we were never intended to be, and we get what we were never intended to have! 2. - Abraham and Sarah took a Shortcut with Ishmael! (Gen 16: 1 – 3) 1 NOW SARAI, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. She had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar. 2 And Sarai said to Abram, See here, the Lord has restrained me from bearing [children]. I am asking you to have intercourse with my maid; it may be that I can obtain children by her. And Abram listened to and heeded what Sarai said. 3 So Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her Egyptian maid, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his [secondary] wife. Now we all know the result of this Shortcut, and the pain and torment that this had on their personal lives and the results it has had down the annals of history! Whatever you achieve by taking a Shortcut will very rarely last, but whatever is achieved through the due process of God in and through our lives will endure, and will last for a long time! Not only in your life personally, but also with your children. - The next Generation! The end result of Shortcuts is usually destruction, and sorrow, but the end result of keeping a firm grip on the faith, and sticking to the process of God, is usually success and joyful fulfillment! (1 Peter 5:10 AMP) And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.
