Did a man with a murder conviction in his past manage to hide it from his girlfriend? That was the question in St. Joseph Superior Court today in a trial related to a double murder that shocked Mishawaka back in June of 2012. Steven Clippinger was charged with killing his brother, Matthew Clippinger, and Matthew’s wife Lisa, in front of the couple’s two young children. Today, the mother of both Clippinger boys, Laverta Clippinger, testified from her wheelchair. Laverta Clippinger said when Steven got out of prison, he began working at AJ Wright in South Bend. That’s where he met Jenifer Leveque. The two moved in together and eventually had a child together. Leveque is on trial for allegedly providing the gun used in the crime, and driving the getaway car.
