Did anyone go to one elementary school within the Shawnee Mission District and then end up going to a junior high in another part of the district? This happened to me when my parents and I moved from 78th Circle to 101st St. and Grandview at the end of 1980. I was halfway through 6th grade at the time we moved and rather than have me go the last half of 6th grade at Dorothy Moody my parents allowed me to finish out 6th grade at Antioch Elementary school. Then I started attending Indian Creek Jr. High for 7th thru 9th grade. Talk about a rude awakening...lol. The transition from elementary school to junior high is traumatizing enough for most kids...but add starting junior high with a bunch of kids you never went to school with before and it made the transition all the more difficult for me. I will never forget how much I got picked on in 7th grade. To put it mildly, my three years in junior high were not the easiest time of my life by any stretch of the imagination...lol.
