Did anyone learn music skills from Isaac Jenkins? I was in marching band at La Cumbre Jr. High School in 1975/1976, played the trumpet. Miserable instrument for me, I was usually around 13th chair out of about 19. Eric Stoltz was 1st chair and drum major, the guy was a prodigy. But Ike was an awesome teacher. My brother Jerry and Eric were in the Jazz Band, and won 1st place at the Reno Jazz festival in 1976. Ike was passionate, and I remember him getting so pissed off at times, he would explode and throw the chalk at the board, go into the back room and cool off. But he sure had the respect of his students. He is amazingly talented, and I loved his flute solos. I know he went on to teach the likes of Katy Perry at Dos Pueblos High and many others, and then on to SBCC where he is now.
