Did some research: Yvonne Sumner (not Summer as previously spelled) currently holds the SA 24h “Road” record and not track record – on 4 October 1986 in Natal – The 24h SA “track” record might only be 161.009 km set by Rene Yiangou on 31 March 2013 in Polokwane. The 24h SA men’s Track record was never set on home soil, first men’s SA track record was set by Wally Hayward (256.400km) on 21 November 1953 in England and was only bettered on 7 December 2013 in Taipei (258,064 km). The current men’s SA track record on home soil is 253,076km on 31 March 2013 in Polokwane. The SA women’s 100km “Road” record was set by Helena Joubert (7:31:47) on 16 September 1995 in the Netherlands (Road). The SA men’s 100km “Road” record was set by Bruce Fordyce (06:25:07) on 4 February 1989 in Stellenbosch. The SA 100km men’s “Track” is unknown and the record holder for the 100km “Track” might be Colinda Potgieter 11:06:16 on 31 March 2013. Plenty of records up for grabs at Capital Classic in September!!
