Did you ever wonder what the world, and various aspects of it, would be like if you were totally and completely honest about everything all the time? I know that I would have to delete my facebook account! Every time I log in it asks the same question, “What’s on your mind?” and if I answered it honestly I would go from 183 friends to about 4 in a few days time (and the 4 would be wife and kids). It’s not that I would deliberately insult my friends, many of whom I have known, loved and respected for over 30 years, but if I answered that question honestly the anger that I have developed for so much of our society would probably hit home with everyone eventually and they would be offended. Here’s an example (and if you’ve done this, please understand that I am not singling you out): Have you ever been in a bad mood, had a tragedy occur, or simply been depressed then gone on facebook and posted about how bad things are? Have you ever checked, afterward, to see how many of your friends hit the “like” button? Seriously? I tell you my life sucks and you “like” it? Are we really THAT disengaged? Anyway, I just wish I would log onto facebook and it would ask, “What would you like to share?” or even the ever popular, “what’s up?” Just leave my mind out of it, maybe then I wouldn’t feel so much pressure.
