Did you know!!?- هل تعلم!!؟ البحار قد تكون بعمق المحيطات رغم أنها أصغر منها . من أهم أنواع هذه البحار ما يلي : البحار الواسعة: وأهمها البحر الأبيض المتوسط فهو يتوسط الثلاث قارات التي كانت تشكل العالم القديم . أوروبا وأفريقيا وآسيا . تبلغ مساحته مع البحر الأسود حوالي 2968 مليون كم مربع يحتل منها البحر الأسود 435000 كم مربع. وأعمق وحدة فيه قرب اليونان يبلغ عمقها 5121 م. أما معدل عمقه فيبلغ 1458 م . يتصل المحيط الطلسي عبر مضيق جبل طارق ويتصل بالبحر الأحمر عبر قناة السويس . كما يتصل بالحبر الأسود عبر مضيق البوسفور والدردنيل. ثم ياتي البح الأحمر في المرتبة الثانية من حيث الأهمية يقع بين شواطيء إفريقيا وشواطيء شبه الجزيرة العربية ويتصل بالمحيط الهندي عن طريق مضيق باب المندب وتبلغ مساحته حوالي نصف مليون كم² وأعمق وحدة فيه هي بحدود 2835 م . البحار الفرعية: تتفرع عن المحيطات أو البحار الواسعة فإما أن تتبعها أو تسمى بأسماء المناطق القريبة منها مثل بحر الشمال وبحر المانش والبحر الكاريبي وبحر اليابان هذا بالإضافة إلى بحار مغلقة كليا في القارات فهي لا تتصل مطلقا بأي من الميحطات أو البحار ، أهمها بحر قزوين الذي تبلغ مساحته 423300 كم مربع تقريبا . ويعتبر أكبر البحيرات مساحة في العالم وينخفض مستوى مياهه كل عام بضعة سنتميترات نظرا لتبخر كميات كبيرة من مياهه تفوق بكثير الكمية التي تصب فيه . يبلغ أقصى عمقه 768م . ومن البحار المغلقة أيضا بحر آرال الذي يمتد على مساحة 68700 كم مربع في روسيا. البحيرات: عبارة عن منخفضات امتلأت بالمياه ، تكون بعضها في الشقوق والأخاديد كبحيرات افريقيا ( بحيرة فكتوريا ، تياسا ، تانجانيكا ) وتكون البعض الآخر بتأثير ذوبان الجليد إثر الموجات الجليدية التي إجتاحت الأرض في الزمن الجيولوجي الرابع كبحيرات أميركا الشمالية ( البحيرات الخمس ، بحيرة العبيد الكبرى ، بحيرة الدب الكبرى ، وبحيرة وينبغ ...) وهناك عدد من البحيرات ذات الملوحة المرتفعة كالبحر الميت الذي تبلغ ملوحته حوالي 275 بالألف ، والبحيرة المالحة في منطقة الجبال الصخرية في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية والتي تقع على إرتفاع 1283 م. إن حرارة المياه في هذه البحيرات تبقى واحدة طيلة أيام السنة وتبلغ 4 درجات وهي الحرارة التي تبلغ فيها المياه العذبة أثقل كثافة لها أما البحيرات الكبيرة الملوحة فنادرا ما تتجمد مياهها حتى ولوهبطت حرارة الجو عشرات الدرجات تحت الصفر. يتغير مستوى معظم البحيرات على مدار النسة ومن سنة إلى أخرى وذلك حسب كمية الأمطار الهاطلة فوقها أو لتغذيتها بأنهار يختلف منسوبها حسب الأيام والفصول أو بثلوج تذوب في أوقات معينة كما تجف أحيانا بعض البحيرات على مر السنين خاصة في المناطق الجافة.
