Did you know?...At its peak operation, Almaden Air Force Station - TopicsExpress

Did you know?...At its peak operation, Almaden Air Force Station house 120 airmen and their families. They had everything on the hill except schools. Supplies were delivered regularly to the commissary and base exchange (BX). Mail came to the postal exchange (PX) just as it would down in the valley. Even the San Jose Mercury News delivered a bundle of newspapers to the site where the station paperboy (a son of an airman) would deliver it to each porch. Families called Mt. Umunhum home for several years (on some cases up to 7 consecutive years). It was small-town America. Kitchen photo: D. Miner (1976)
